Wow! Saint John is a city that’s rockin’ and rollin’ these days! This week brought us some fresh news and definitely some long awaited for decisions.
There seems to be a lot of political heat.
1.The jury is out: Ferguson not liable of defaming the Saint John Pension Board.
Technically it is not my place to comment on this matter but I want to anyway. Pensions = very important issue & reputation = possibly even more so. But at what cost? At what expense? Especially in tight economic times….what do you think Saint John?
I hope everyone gets out to vote this time around – we really need to come together and stand up for the vision that we all deep down know this city can be. Let’s choose to not focus on the past and battles lost; instead think about the emerging industries and opportunities our city can offer!

In sad news, the old Lyric Theatre burnt down last week. Sadly, I didn’t know this existed until the fire. Even sadder though, is the fact that it was set on fire by 3 individuals, aged 15, 19 and 20. For more details, check out CBC News.

I’m going to be slightly biased here but it’s for a good cause. This Friday, I will be playing piano and singing with my accompanist Justin Charron for a benefit soiree in support of The Joshua Group. This is a great cause put on by two amazing women I’ve had the chance of getting to know since moving back to Saint John – Kathy Curwin & Kelly Ethridge. The SILVER & SOAP SOIREE will be taking place at Shadow Lawn in Rothesay, NB from 6:30pm – 9:30pm. If you like silver and skin care, you won’t want to miss it!
The Joshua Group is raising funds to purchase the former Peacock Garden Center. It will serve as a home for their work with underpriviledged children living in Saint John’s priority neighborhoods. A headquarters for The Joshua Group will not only change the lives of these at-risk children by breaking the cycle of hopelessness, but more importantly, will have a long lasting impact on their future, and our community.
On Saturday, Saint John will be celebrating the Cox & Palmer Fundy Food Festival! This will be my first time going – I’ve heard awesome things about it. Quite frankly, I might have to put in a little more effort at the gym earlier that day, but this is definitely worth it!
I wish I could be two places at once this Sunday, but unfortunately, there are physical limitations that exist. If I could be, I would be attending two phenomenal events:

Last but not least, my former piano professor, Dr. Ludmila Knezkova-Hussey, renowned concert pianist will be performing the world premiere of “The Hippocratic Suite” to raise funds for Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, and the Humanities Program at UNBSJ. The concert is on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm; Hazen Hall Lecture Theatre, UNBSJ. If you want to see true talent, this show will be a must see!
