Madness – just plain MADNESS. What an amazing musical inspiration full of eclectic artists, imagery, emotion and raw pure sound . I want it back but for now I will have to deal with merely blogging about it as a 3 day Music Festival in Montreal hosting 70, 000 people doesn’t happen every weekend.
OSHEAGA Day 1 *Friday*
Interesting to note was the stark contrast between those at EMINEM‘s show vs. John Butler Trio crowd. With the words KILL in the background, one can only imagine the aggressive energy of the crowd. John Butler Trio on the other hand (see below), are absolutely incredible – the crowd was LOVING life. This also could be attributed to the high amounts of “earthly cannabis” in the air. Then again, in a crowd of 60, 000 people, one can easily conclude this to be a constant in both equations…then of course we have the beer…and the MODELS….

Listening to the John Butler touch the guitar like a guitar God was my reward for getting this nice artist to paint the face of my new cool ‘concert acquaintance’ I met from Toronto.

John Butler Trio and The Flaming Lips were two bands I hadn’t experienced until Osheaga and they are two bands that put on a show like no other (and I’ve been to a lot of live shows). The musician who can truly make the audience connect with their gift of sound, is the one who truly understands the power of what they create.
Mark Coyne singing lead vocals, puts on an incredible live show. This band, from Oklahoma, utilizes ridiculous stage light configurations, balloons, puppets, giant hands, lasers, and bubbles. He actually concealed himself in a plastic bubble and floated out into the audience. #Epic

There are so many more photos and memories to discuss but I’ve realized blogging should be kept simple. I must however, mention how incredible Ellie Goulding, The Tragically Hip and City & Colour were. Power to Canada for the latter 2.

Osheaga 2011 Overlooking the River
P.s. I need to add some very important moments. The first day at Osheaga, we met David – an incredible man from Mexico City. We continued our music celebrations for the remainder of the festival, communicating via Facebook messages where we were in the mass of 60, 000 people. Somehow – he found us. Somehow we all found each other … and it was beautiful.

The best part about the photo below is that I’ve known both gentlemen since I was approx. 15. We all travelled to Ukraine & Turkey together with our genius professor and world pianist Ludmilla Knezkova Hussey for piano master classes years ago. Amazing how we could all unite to appreciate music again.
