SAINT JOHN, NB: Apryll Aileen has received the Bell Media Prize from Coalition Music to participate in Canada’s Music Incubator Artist Entrepreneur Program (CMIAE) in Toronto, Ontario. A professional development program that runs for 8 weeks, it is designed to help new and emerging artists build their businesses, careers, and brands.

The Bell Media Prize valued at $10,000, is awarded to only two recipients across Canada, per program. Aileenwill be spending March & April in Toronto with Coalition Music who currently manages USS, Simple Plan, Andee, Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Tom Cochrane, The Tea Party, Justin Nozuka, Incura, & Raine Maida.

The program covers everything from building your business & brand, funding & financing, marketing & touring, to live performance coaching, songwriting & recording. The program also works with guest speakers from the Feldman Agency (booking agency for Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, Sarah McLachlan, etc.), Universal Music (Alanis Morissette, Amy Winehouse, Drake) and many others.

Aileen is excited to attend and says she first met the folks from Coalition Music in October in Miramichi, NB, during her showcase at Music NB’s Festival 506. “Their 2 day CMI Bootcamp was the most insightful workshop I’ve ever attended. In December after my UK tour, I decided to visit their location in Toronto. It was during this meeting, arranged on my own accord, that I was made aware that the opportunity to apply was still available. I am beyond excited to attend & know this will be a career changing move.”

That is a big statement considering Aileen has spent the last year and a half attending conferences such as Folk Music Ontario in Toronto, CD Baby’s inaugural conference in Chicago, NAMM in Los Angeles, Canadian Music Week in Toronto and was the first New Brunswick artist, in 50 years, to showcase in Cannes, France at the Midem Music Conference.

Aileen’s debut album “Savannah Soul”, is available online with iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify & more. Hard copy albums are available at Backstreet Records in Uptown Saint John (on Germain Street) & also by emailing [email protected] or sending a message to her Facebook page.
