SAINT JOHN, New Brunswick – On Saturday evening, November 21st, eight contestants performed their hearts out, for the finals in the province wide competition “Battle of the Arts NB”. The event was hosted by Mel & Sam of Capital FM 106.9 in Fredericton, New Brunswick at Ecole Sainte-Anne.

The audience helped the judges narrow it down to the top five, but for the final decision, the judges awarded Apryll Aileen, from Saint John, with first place, for her songwriting and diversity with playing guitar, piano & singing. Coming in second was John Aidemouni for his pen tapping & percussion skills, closely followed by animation dancer David NT, grabbing third place.

“It’s truly exciting to have won this battle, especially with so much great talent out there. This money couldn’t have come at a better time for my career. The organization is very professional and welcoming – they are truly interested in celebrating diversity & promoting the arts,” Aileen states.

There’s even an option to give back to the greater Saint John Area! “I really do love this community and as such, I wanted to put my music talents to work, in a way that will really benefit others. I’ve created something called the “Community Give Back” where a company or individual can sponsor me to play for a registered charity event of their choice,” Aileen explains.

“There’s also a really cool option called “Empowering Women Through Song” where someone can sponsor me to perform for the “Women of Worth” workshops put on by Gentle Path Counselling Services. I’ve seen first hand the great work they do in providing quality counselling & support group services to our community, regardless of financial means.”
